CHUKKA VS DESERT?

What are the real differences between a chukka boots and a desert boots have really?, is there any distinctive that separates the two..? This question just recently pop in my head, cause let’s face it they are pretty much the same. A chukka boots often reference to a desert boots or the other way around, but in theory there are two distinctions that separate them, the way the upper is stitched to the sole and the use of materials. Chukka boots often being smooth tanned leather, and Desert boots usually being suede or some other sort of lighter, rougher leather(Needlefeed).

Nowadays its even hard to differentiate the two, with so many company taken and reproduced the models in variety of color and materials. Last year we’ve seen a number of great releases of the models, Opening Ceremony deservedly is one of the best when it comes to desert boots, Clarks is always a smart choice and even Red Wing released a pretty decent pair of chukka’s.
Starting of this year, I came across a new collection of footwear called Red Brick Soul which happen to produce a finely crafted chukka boots, along side few other strong models as well. In the end, no matter what the difference I’d say both style of shoes should be in every gentleman’s closet.
